What is Markforged Precise PLA?
Polylactic Acid (PLA) is one of the most common materials in the additive manufacturing industry, and Markforged is now offering their own specialized version: Precise PLA. This new capability will allow customers to print with great reliability with a simplified user experience, resulting in parts that look and work great every time. Markforged will offer Precise PLA in eight colors: yellow, red, orange, green, blue, gray, black, and white.
Why did Markforged add Precise PLA?
The new Markforged material family provides unmatched versatility to users, offering capabilities with functional properties like tensile strength on par with metal, temperature resistance, impact resistance, and affordability for the most demanding applications. With the addition of Precise PLA to the extensive Markforged material portfolio, this wide range of proprietary materials will unlock a broad set of applications in demanding industries like aerospace, automotive, defense, and healthcare. Precise PLA unlocks versatile, cost-efficient concept models and fit checks, and when paired with other Markforged materials like plastics, continuous carbon fibers, and metals, customers can now have a full range of materials for every stage of the product life cycle.
What printers are compatible with Precise PLA?
Precise PLA will be available to order on March 15, and will be compatible to print on Mark Two (Gen 2) and Onyx Pro (Gen 2) desktop series printers. Markforged also plans to make Precise PLA available on all industrial series printers with the second-generation A3648 extruder, including the X3, X5, and X7, in Q2 of this year. Users will need a printer with the A3648 extruder (common across all Gen 2 desktop and industrial printers) since Markforged relies on the enhanced capabilities to print Precise PLA reliably.
