As we all tune in to the nightly news, it has become clear that many cities throughout the U.S. and around the world are in dire need of not only N95 masks and ventilators but also face shields. Face shields provide additional protection when used in conjunction with a cloth mask. Face shields, in their simplest form, consist of a frame, an elastic (or velcro) that wraps around the head and a shield that is usually acetate or polycarbonate plastic but can be a simple transparency film or even in dire cases, clear plastic cut from bottles.
3DOLOGIE along with the additive manufacturing industry is stepping up to produce the face shield and donate them to local hospitals. Additional 3DOLOGIE blog posts will be up shortly with resources including files, instructions for assembly, how to contact your local hospital, etc.
3DOLOGIE would LOVE to help each of you find a way to use your 3D printers (brand doesn’t matter) to produce the shield frames and donate them to your local hospital(s), cancer centers and pediatric facilities.
If you are interested in participating, please email [email protected] and we will share all the details we have to date. And remember your participation doesn’t have to be huge. If you can make and donate 10, then do it. If you can make 300, let’s do it!
